University of Kentucky women’s commitment Samantha Drake of Nelson County has been tabbed as the top player in the Bluegrass State in Rick Bolus of High Potential Recruiting Services new rankings of the top players in the state.
Drake, who has been committed to UK for more than a year, is a 6-foot-3 center and has averaged double figures in points and rebounds for three seasons. She will be a senior next season.
The No. 2 player in the Bolus rankings is University of Louisville commitment Antonita Slaughter of Christian Academy. She is also a senior.
Lexington Christian junior Sarah Beth Barnette, also a UK commitment, is No. 3 followed by Paul Dunbar senior Ebony Rowe and Franklin-Simpson junior Chastity Gooch.
Sophomore Sydney Moss, the daughter of NFL star Randy Moss, didn’t finish the season at Ryle and her status for next season is uncertain.
Next on the listing is Rockcastle County junior Sarah Hammond, North Hardin junior Raechaun Edwards, Mercy senior Therese Montano, Assumption senior Molly Ernst, Elizabethtown junior Natalie Greenwell and Owensboro Catholic freshman Becca Greenwell.
The top sleeper in the state, according to Bolus, is Manual sophomore April Wilson.
